Statistical Analysis Report from the National Center for Education Statistics: http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2014001rev.  You can download a pdf copy of the report from here.  It states that “Bachelor’s degree STEM entrants who were male or who came from low-income backgrounds had a higher probability of leaving STEM by dropping out of college than their peers who were female or came from high-income backgrounds, net of other factors.”
